Daniel McGookey I have known Mike and Shannon for 25 years. I am not a Facebook user. However, I must say that, if ever there was a cause I believe is worthwhile and that I think you should join in, it is this one. The reason I say this is that, not only are Mike and Shannon deserving of the truth as to what happenned to Jake, but that this case has exposed a very important and fundamental flaw in the American justice system. I have persoanlly approached every level of our law enforcement system asking, and even begging them to look into this case, only to be rejected by being told: its a local matter. When does a local matter cease being a local matter? When can the evidence of wrongdoing become so overwhelming that a higher authority needs to step in? Apparently, in the current structure of our justice system, the answer is; never. That is a shame. More importantly, it is a national disgrace. It is indeed a slippery slope we have come to when those who have sworn to protect and serve us have the unfettered power to decide what is best for us. As important as it is to find the truth what happened to Jake that night for his parents Mike and Shannon, and for his 4 year old daughter Ella, in the total scheme of things it is far more important to question how and why things went wrong in the investigation into his death, and to take corrective action to make sure it can never happens again to any other family, anywhere.
