Daniel Robert Ford said in another thread: Often times, people will compress stuff and take away the natural dance and give and take an element may naturally have with another element. Less is more. If an engineer can make a killer mix with fader first. Just with balance... THEN incorporate EQ and compression... its all Gucci from there I wanted to open up the floor to talk about this moment of making the decision to use compression, EQ or other FX... I like the idea of basically getting a overall balance and then moving into FX/EQ.... but Im still mesmerized by this idea of a front to back mix, as in, using reverb to push something back, or... using compression(?) to bring something forward. I really want to get away from overdoing it on every single track, so my question to you is, if you know hey this guitar should sit further back what steps can you take in the compression/reverb/eq realm to make that happen? What about vice versa? Thanks, and Im sorry if its confusing haha but this is something Ive thought about after watching many a ITL
