Daniel, Thank you for this. When I see the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, with the names of my friends on it, it brings me much sorrow. I think of all of the sacrifice it represents. I wonder what did all of that sacrifice buy. If my country would have learned from Vietnam never to do something like this again, then those sacrifices would have bought something very valuable and precious. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan show me that we did not learn from Vietnam and that the sacrifices we made in Vietnam bought us nothing more than a black marble wall. This is what really hurts.
