There is no need to research and pull stats because you can detect the lies within his own statements: 1. There is NO teachers union in the state of NC - it is illegal based on our constitution (surely he knows this but seeks to win the favor of a host of ignoramuses that cringe at those words). 2. If the private sector is doing so much better (what he calls a comeback), then why on one hand is he touting this comeback and on the other admitting that the private sector is struggling (because they receive stagnant wages or are jobless) so we should accept lower pay for NC teachers? You cant have it both ways - either the private sector is improving, revenue is increasing, and we can pay state employees more…or its not. Which is it Pat? 3. McCrory attacks the phantom NC teachers unions administrative pay while he handed out lucrative pay raises to his cabinet. 4. Unemployment in NC is down - not because of revitalized job markets - but because people were dropped. The republicans expired unemployment benefits from 26 weeks to 19 weeks and kicked those moochers off unemployment. If those that are jobless were counted, the NC unemployment rate would be closer to 10%, and this doesnt even consider underemployment. 5. Teacher longevity is no longer in place in NC for teachers - so says the budget itself. And McCrory continues to identify the raise at 5.5% when the NCGA calls it a 7% raise. Pat must not have read it before he signed it.
