Danny Dyer said he was so nervous about joining the soap he was worried he would call his new colleagues by their on-screen names. The cockney star, who joined the long-running BBC1 show on Christmas Day as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, said his new role was another level of fame. Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, he said: I cant help but feel a bit overwhelmed by it. Youre brought up watching it & all of a suddenly you are there. The other thing you worry about is calling her Dot or calling him Phil. Its weird because I was talking to Shane Richie & he called me Mick. I thought f*** that, Ive been trying everything in my power not to call him Alfie & he Micked me off. Danny, who is appearing on Saturdays show with other guests including Goldie Hawn, said the recent storyline where his son, played by Sam Strike, came out as gay was a real positive thing.
