Dante is an adorable 5 year old Cavoodle (cavalier x poodle) who had an acute episode of hind limb paresis in August this year. Dante was referred to see the surgery department after he had been to the RSPCA Vet Clinic. Dr. Simon Kudnig examined Dante and performed a Myelogram which revealed a compressed spinal disc at T11/T12 which can be seen in the x-ray attached. Dante underwent spinal surgery - a hemilaminectomy was performed and a large amount of extruded disc material was removed. Dante stayed in hospital overnight for pain management and monitoring. The next morning Dante had signs of motor function returning to his hind legs and he was able to go home. Dante needed to be kept rested for the next 6 weeks and walked with a sling around his waist until he fully regained mobility. Dante was a brave boy during his stay in hospital and was on the right track to a speedy recovery. Dante recently came back to see us after he had spinal surgery to repair an Intervertebral disc extrusion at T11/T12 in August. Dante is now walking again and his reflexes are continuing to improve. He had a big happy smile on his face and his hair had started to grow back. Well done Dante! Photos L-R: 1. Dante after his spinal surgery 2.
