Dara’a: The Al-Nusra Front Captures Brigade 82 Base By Leith Fadel on January 25, 2015 Middle East The Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat Al-Nusra) was able to infiltrate through the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses at Brigade 82 near the city of Sheikh Miskeen, resulting in the capture of the imperative sectors of the base; this forced the SAA to withdraw from their positions and concede control of the base to the Al-Nusra Front. According to a military source, 14 SAA soldiers were killed-in-action (KIA) before they were forced to withdraw – the source was unable to provide the number of Al-Nusra Front militants killed due to the absence of information from the battle. The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) pounded the cities of Da’el, Jasseem, ‘Inkhil, Sheikh Miskeen, and Nawa with numerous airstrikes that targeted Al-Nusra Front gatherings inside the province of Dara’a.
