Darbar Sahib Hukamnama on 22 Jan 2015 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Vahiguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vahiguru Ji Ki Fateh Darbar Sahib Hukamnama on 22 Jan 2015 from SGGS p 713 is presented with an interpretation. Todī mėhlā 5 gẖar 2 ḏupḏe IkSmall white squareoaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ. Composition of the fifth Guru in Raag Ttoddi, (dupade) with two stanzas each, (ghar-u 2) to be sung to the second beat. Invoking the One all-pervasive Creator who may be known (gurprsaad-i) with the true guru’s grace/guidance. Note: There are two types of pleasures; one which the body enjoys - and one chases them in numerous ways – but they last for a short while in life. The second is the pleasure the soul seeks; it is to unite with the Creator and settle down with IT. This brings eternal peace as cycles of births and end and is the purpose of human birth. It is the latter that a discerning person seeks. MāgaSmall white squareo ḏān ṯẖākur nām. Avar kacẖẖū merai sang na cẖālai milai kirpā guṇ gām. ||1|| rahāSmall white squareo. O (tthaakur) Master, I (maagau) ask for (naam) awareness of – and ability to live by - Your virtues and commands, as (daan-u = charity) benediction. (Kachhoo na) nothing (avar-u) else shall (chaalai) go (sang-i) with (m-erai) me to the hereafter; awareness of Naam is (milai) obtained with (kripa) kindness of the Almighty and one (gaam = sings) praises and emulates (gun) virtues of the Almighty. (Rahaau) dwell on this and contemplate. Rāj māl anek bẖog ras sagal ṯarvar kī cẖẖām. ḎẖāSmall white squaree ḏẖāSmall white squaree baho biḏẖ kaSmall white squareo ḏẖāvai sagal nirārath kām. ||1|| Out of the other things one may ask; (raaj-u) kingdom/authority, (maal-u) wealth, (bhog) enjoying (an-ek) numerous (ras) objects of pleasure, are (sagal) all like (chhaam) the shade of (tarvar) a tree, i.e. they are transitory. One (dhaa-e dhaa-e) keeps running after them (dhaavai = runs) pursuing them in (bahu) many (bidh-i) ways, but (sagal) all (kaam = doing) efforts are (niraarath) fruitless – in getting lasting peace. 1. Bin govinḏ avar je cẖāhaSmall white squareo ḏīsai sagal bāṯ hai kẖām. Kaho Nānak sanṯ ren māgaSmall white squareo mero man pāvai bisrām. ||2||1||6|| (J-e) if I (chaahau) desire anything (avar-u) other than – being able to live by virtues and commands of – (govind) the Master, (sagal baat) everything (deesai = seen) is found (khaam = raw, unbaked earthen vessel, perishable) not useful for the soul. (Kahu) say o fifth Nanak: I (maagau) ask for (r-en) dust of the feet of, i.e. ability to follow, (sant) the saints – who can unite me with the Almighty - so that (m-ero) my (man-u) mind (paavai) obtains (bisraam) rest, i.e. the soul settles down by union with the Creator. 2. 1. 6.
