Dare 2 Dream: Bio for Derek Goode Jr. Derek Emanuel Goode Jr. (D.J.) is a native of King Mountain, NC where he was raised by his single father Derek Emanuel Goode Sr. and his grandmother Shirley Goode. D.J.s passion for bikes ignited at the tender age of four. Fascinated with his fathers street bike, D.J. pleaded with his father to let him ride. After many months of unrelenting petitions, his father taught him the basic fundamentals of riding. By the age of five, D.J. was given his first bike. His enthusiasm was evident when he made a path around the outside of his house from his repeated circling. Eventually, his grandmother Shirley allowed his father to build a small track that evolved into a ten-acre racetrack and training facility at her home. D.J. possessed a natural talent for riding which encouraged his father, Derek Sr. to gather more information form videos and magazines. Armed with only information from videos, magazines and books, Derek Sr. trained D.J. at the age of seven. Later, his father outfitted D.J. with a custom built bike where he competed in his first amateur race and won! D.J. went on to place in the top 3 of the S.C. State Championship, Tennessee State Championship and the 250 B. With limited sponsorship, this Father-Son duo double as trainer and mechanics forming the Goode Racing Team. They work diligently to insure that all bikes are at top operation and performance level. Many times, D.J. has disassembled his bike and made repairs so that he is more knowledgeable for riding and racing. In 2011, D.J. qualified to ride in the Mini Os (Mini Olympics) for motor cross riders in Alachua, FLA; the 2nd biggest amateur race in the nation. DJs natural instinct for riding and the passion for the sport, shows he has the heart of a true champion. D.J. doesnt calculate his maneuvers, he just feels them. The Goode Racing Team started the Dare 2 Dream movement, with a goal is to show youth that if you can see it, you can be it! Dare 2 Dream is not just about motor cross, it is about community service. Dare 2 Dream has reached out in many areas that include, but are not limited to, cleaning up the debris in the community, feeding the needy, and the annual Back to School bash where kids from all over receive school supplies, enjoy great food and watching D.J. with other racers ride at the Goode Racing Facility. Last years Back to School bash distributed over 100 book bags and food to kids. Recently, D.J. was invited to be a guest speaker for the 4th & 5th grade awards day at his former elementary school Edward D. Sadler Jr. Elementary. The event was so successful, D.J. has invitations to speak at other schools in the area. To pursue his dream full-time, D.J. left his high school, Bessemer City High and classmates to attend Club MX located near Chesterfield, SC, (a school solely for motor cross riders). He currently attends school online. One of the many sacrifices D.J. endures because he Dared 2 Dream! I needed to share this it touches my heart Love u best friend
