Dariye to Jang : Forgive and embrace everyone Written by VPN Contributor Saturday, 15 March 2014 08:27 font size Print Email A former Governor of Plateau State and current senator representing the Central senatorial zone of the state Chief Joshua Dariye has appealed to the present Governor, Jonah Jang to forgive and embrace everyone. Dariye made the appeal in a goodwill message to mark Governor Jangs 70th birthday in Jos. He said that Jang should give Plateau state a birthday gift by using his position as well as pastoral calling to forgive all, reconcile and bring everyone on board for the common good of Plateau and the Middle belt. The former Governor said this will be a significant milestone as General Yakubu Gowon did same in 2004 when he made a birthday request to then President Olusegun Obasanjo asking him to lift the six month old state of emergency imposed on Plateau. Obasanjo promptly obliged leading to the end of the emergency rule. He said when the history of Plateau State and this republic will be written, this kind of gesture will form a significant par. The Senator added that with the passing of Chief Solomon Lar, the first civilian Governor of the state, God has placed this burden and responsibility on Governor Jangs shoulder at this point in time while pledging that Plateau people will give Jang all the needed support. Dariye added that Plateau is Gods covenant State, headquarter of the Middle belt and very strategic to Nigerias co-existence and that many sons of Plateau and Middle belt either serving, retired or dead have paid huge price to keep Nigeria one.
