Dark TR FF:Tera hone laga hoon Chapter 14 (B) : The Grand Marriage : Sath Pheras and Sindoor Daan The priest asks both the bride and groom in the mandap for the further marriage rituals. Piyu, Taanis younger sister ties the chunni of Taani with Reys waist. This is called the granthi-bandhan or tying the knot. It symbolizes the union of two different individual. From today, Rey and Taani is considered as one unit. After that priests tells Rey to take Taanis hand on his hand, from today both of them will spend their entire life together whether in good times or bad phase. This ritual is called as Paani Grahan. Now, comes to the most important and significant step of any Hindu wedding - Saath Pheras or Seven Wovs. With each phera the couple makes a vow, a commitment while taking a round of fire which is to be lived forever and more, its only then that a couple is accepted as husband and wife for the next seven lives to come. Taani and Rey start doing the pheras while the priest is explaining the meaning of every phera to them and to all other guests present over there. With the first vow, the groom pledges to provide welfare and happiness to his wife and children, whereas the bride swears to shoulder all responsibilities for the welfare of the grooms entire family - Taani takes this commitment from her soul as she starts thinking Reys family as her own family from today. Rey feels a bit awkward by this vow, as he has given Taani and her children a lifetime happiness, that means he is committing her for their happy family ahead. In second vow, the groom requests the bride to be his strength so that he can provide security and protect the family with courage. The bride agrees to abide by, while demanding eternal love and undivided attention - The word Eternal Love is so strong for both of them, because they know that this marriage is based neither on Love nor any attraction. This is nothing but a pure understanding or contract between them. With the third vow, the couple pleads for wisdom, wealth, and prosperity in order to live a content and satisfied life. They pledge to remain spiritually committed and the bride assures the groom that by the virtue of true love and devotion she will remain a chaste wife - The word True Love makes Taani a bit shivers. Here, the priest is asking for true love from her, that means she has to love Rey unconditionally throughout her life. She doesnt know where her destiny is taking to. In fourth vow, the groom thanks his would-be wife for bringing auspiciousness, happiness, and sacredness in his life. In return, the bride takes an oath to serve and please her husband in every way possible. Together, they also pledge to take care and respect their elders in the family - Rey doesnt know if this marriage has brought a happiness in his life or not. The marriage is indeed a fake one for him, so these words can hardly effect him. He believes that marriage can not be the source of happiness, it is a life long disaster. The importance of the fifth vow is to pray for the welfare of all the living things in this Universe and begetting a noble breed. The couple also prays to almighty to bless each others friends and family with happiness and well-being - Taani thanks the almighty as she is doing all of this only because of her family and their happiness. She thinks that it is her duty to make the family members happy , satisfied, so she shows her gratitude to God. In the sixth vow, God is invoked to bless the couple for bountiful seasons and long lived togetherness. The groom wishes that his wife would glut his life with joy and peace; while the bride provides assurance that she would participate with her husband in all his noble and divine acts - Taani doesnt know if she can ask Rey for the upcoming seven lives or not. She doesnt know if that man ever does any noble or divine act, but she takes an oath, she will make sure for every possible best thing in his upcoming life. This is the last vow adding completion to the ceremony. Here the couple pleads for the long lasting relationship, enriched with understanding and loyalty. They take an oath to nourish their relationship with love and honesty and be together with each other forever not only in this life, but also in the lives to come - these are so heavy words for now for Taani. She can listen priests last few words and she closes her eyes. A drop of tear is rolled out from her eyes, dont know if this is the feeling of her inner pain or this is because of the effect of the fire. After completing the seven pheras, the priest asks Taani to sit left side of Rey because the heart is in the left side of the body. Rey fills Taanis center hair parting with sindoor or vermilion, as per priests instruction. he chants the mantras and tells that by this Rey is accepting Taani by establishing her in his heart. Finally, Rey ties the mangalsutra, a black beads chain around Taanis neck. After finishing all of these wedding acts, she is ready to give her final bid adieu to everyone in her family. She meets everyone now. Everyone expresses their hearts emotion, all feelings come out in more or less same way. Taanis grand mom says Taani, beti, I dont know under which circumstances you are marrying him, but I will always pray for your happiness in your life. I always want that your husband may love you the best, so that you forget all of your sorrow, pains what you have got here. I pray to the God that each and every members in your in-laws house welcomes you with great love and warm heart so that you forget this house. She pauses for a moment to take breath and again starts saying, Taani, meri beti, remember, you have comiited something in front of the holy fire, thirty three cror Hindu God and Goddess and your seven past generations, so never betray them, never forget your culture...
