Darlings, I can not wait until tomorrow, when the New Orleans Opera Season will begin with one of my favorite: Carmen by Carmen BizetCarmen is an opera in four acts by the French composer Georges Bizet. The libretto was written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on a novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée. -On October 10, you are invited to kick off the 2014-2015 opera season in style with a Carmen-themed cocktail party and lavish dinner at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre of the Performing Arts. The glittering festivities are dedicated to three Grande Dames whose immeasurable contributions to opera in New Orleans are fully deserving of the special recognition planned.
