Darn...me and cameras just dont get along. Somehow the video did not get saved. Kurtis went to trial power wheelchairs today. Two of them were regular chairs, one rear wheel drive, the other, mid wheel drive. There are some advantages to both. The third was a sit/stand. At first Kurtis thought that he needed to stand up in the wheelchair. After a couple of times he understood that the chair would stand him up. Once he was up and standing and started to move he looked at me and signed, Same as walking with the biggest smile on his face that I have ever seen. His dream come true! We will need to do quite a bit of fundraising as the At Home Program does not fund the full amount of the standing option chairs. Rough estimate at this time is about $10,000.00. It will take some doing but I know this can happen for my boy! Stay tuned... For an idea of what we trialed here is a video. Just imagine the changes to Kurtis world when he can stand at the library, grocery store, communicating with peers...the list goes on.
