Darrel Piper of Scotland loves that the holiday season falls in the Winter, because his Christmas lights get to serve two purposes. First, they help to get him into the yuletide spirit. And second, they heat his house. Piper hangs more than 4,000 Christmas lights inside his house, instead of outside his house like most people tend to do. He does this because he says it makes his house toasty warm and saves him a ton of money on heating costs. Of course, wed be remiss if we didnt raise the obvious question: But isnt his electric bill through the roof? Thats exactly what his critics – also known as smart people – argue. Piper heats his house with Christmas lights from September 1st through January.
