Srivastava GM / SCR’s Call to Railway Workforce Patriotic zeal and fervour marked the 66th Republic Day celebrations in South Central Railway today ie. 26th Jan.2016 at railway sports complex grounds, Secunderabad. The South Central Railway celebrated the day with General Manager Shri PK Srivastava unfurling the National Flag. He received the guard of honour presented by various contingents representing Railway Protection Force, Civil Defence, National Cadet Corps, National Green Corps, Scouts and Guides, etc. SCR officials with their family members participated in the celebrations in large number. Address the large gathering, Srivastava said that Indian Railways is indeed proud to be a partner in the Nation’s progress and has been contributing to its economic and social development. South Central Railway and its staff continue to play a significant role in this process of Nation’s growth. He expressed his delight over SCR’s rapid strides both in passenger and freight segments in the recent past. He detailed that during April – December 2014, SCR earned Rs.9332 Cr. which is higher by Rs.1645 Cr. over the corresponding period of last year, with an impressive 21.5% growth. The originating freight loading during this period was 85.72 million tonnes, registering a 10% growth. The physical incremental growth in originating freight loading on SCR stands amongst the best on Indian Railways. The Zone carried 276 million passengers during the same period, i.e 10 lakh passengers on an average per day. SCR has achieved a healthy operating ratio of 78.2% during this fiscal till December end, which is the best in the last six years. The General Manager called upon the railway officials to be steadfast in their commitment to the service of the Nation and rededicate themselves to achieve the set goals to scale new peaks in the performance. Patriotic songs were rendered by students of railway educational institutions while Railway Protection Force troupe presented martial art and patriotic cantata on the occasion.
