Date: July 18, 2014 Contact: Pam Sordyl 734-718-7100 Puppy Mill Awareness of SE Michigan is asking Mt. Clemens Animal Control to quarantine the puppy stores in the Gibraltar Trade Center after 24 cases of parvovirus have been reported. Two cases were reported to the Macomb County Animal Control this month and transferred to the Mt. Clemens office. On Saturday, July 19th, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. members of Puppy Mill Awareness will be warning shoppers at the Trade Center. Free shoe covers will be provided at the entrance of North River Road for those entering the Trade Center and a bleach bucket for dipping shoes bottoms will be available for shoppers when they leave. The Trade Center is located at 237 N. River Road, Mt. Clemens, MI Parvovirus is a highly contagious, often fatal viral disease of dogs, characterized by vomiting, severe diarrhea, and depression and accompanied by high fever and loss of appetite. “This is a chronic problem at the Little Dogz store, formally Pollywood Pets. In most cases, the newly purchased puppy had to be euthanized or did not survive. This is heartbreaking and costly for families.” Pam Sordyl
