Dated- 16th of November ‘ 2014 In Continuance with their tradition of acknowledging academic excellence, Makerdhoj- Ambali Award Trust along with Govt. Sr Sec School Hee-Yangthang West Sikkim celebrated the “8th Makerdhoj Ambali Award cum Annual Prize Distribution Day” in a very rich and exquisite grandeur. The programme was graced by Mrs. T . E. Bhutia, Joint Director (West) HRDD as the Chief Guest, Mr. M.P Subba Director, HRDD, Govt of Sikkim, Dr. B.L Khamdhak as the special guest, govt officials, members of Panchayat, SMC, SMDC, PTA, guardians of the students and local gentries. The programme commenced with an informative and affirmative welcome speech by the principal regarding the academic achievements and the infrastructural endeavours implemented in the school itself. Mr. B.L Khamdhak was felicitated by Makerdhoj Ambali Award Trust for his academic achievements and continued contribution to Limboo Language and society. Mr. Khamdhak further addressed the audience with his optimistic speech stating that education is very much essential for every single individual and even highlighted that education in its entirety should be multifaceted. Mrs. T.E Bhutia in her addressal to the audience appreciated the sincere efforts of all sponsors and organizers. She praised Mr. B. L khamdhak for his achievements as she had also been his former teacher. She even elucidated that she felt proud to be a part of his successful career. She stressed the contributions of parents in their ward’s academic excellence and projected that education of their child will be their greatest achievement and investment. Amidst all the events, the students who had excelled in both scholastic and co-scholastic fields were awarded with tokens, mementos and cash rewards by the guests. The founder of Makerdhoj Ambali Award Trust Mr. M.P Subba in his speech revealed the educational significance and interest in the past decades. He unveiled the main objective of founding the award trust which was to provide a new contemporary environment conducive for the growth of education and free exchange of innovative, constructive ideas. He further spoke about the power of education in bringing out radical changes in personal life, society and ultimately the whole world. He suggested that the aspirations, desires and dreams of the students are sufficient tools for the achievement of excellence and even urged all the parents to understand them and provide the requisite support. He explained how the universe favours only the valiant, competent and dedicated personalities for its millions of opportunities. He disclosed that the students future is in their own hands and that discipline is the path to their destiny. He urged that all teachers and school heads as moulders of the greatest resource on earth need to acknowledge their roles and responsibilities as laid down by the tradition and society. He hinted that the teachers may need to introspect and then may be bring about a transition in their perspective, policy and work ethics. They should be competent enough to withstand any scrutiny, monitoring and evaluation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. R.M Sharma.
