Daves photo of Erith Hainault reminded me of seeing 8 Brampton Road being worked on recently on one of my rare passes(Bexley Council owned opposite Danson Youth Club, see photo). My fears have just been confirmed on this link. democracy.bexley.gov.uk/documents/s58099/Report.pdf Was anyone aware of this being demolished before the works commenced? Apparently permission was granted in 2002 and the new 3 storey building will resemble the one now alongside Danson YC(see other photo), all part of their wider Bexley First rebuild and premises shrinkage/sell-off no doubt. I remember the rows of large Victorian / Edwardian terraced houses lining the north side of Crook Log j/w Brampton Road and sadly Bexley lacks a lot of architectural character nowadays. Its a crime in my opinion. Does/should Bexley have independant heritage preservation input into planning decisions, anyone know? Should the likes of Brampton Nursery (24 Brampton Road, which I attended in the 1960s) receive protected status before its too late ? Does anyone living nearby care anymore?
