Davey Crimbo on music - Folks, you heard it here first! - In the 70s something new took place in the music world.....hit bands releasing LIVE recordings for the first time...yes them performing live on tour. Peter Framton with his Framton Comes Alive album was one of the first in Jan 1976, with popular with songs, Show Me The Way and Baby I Love Your Way. Great songs, great live album! Then Paul McCartney and Wings with his triple album Wings over America Live in Dec 1976. This is my favorite all time McCartney album... btw.....cut my teeth on the drums listening to this one!! But Thin Lizzy had recorded their Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous album during 1976 but it wasnt released until 1978. Bono from U2 said they listened to and wore out many Thin Lizzy Live Lps which inspired them as an Irish band to make it big! If they could do it then we could too!! Brian Downey on drums for Thin Lizzy caused me to find a middle ground between him and Joe English, drummer for McCartney, while learning to sing backing vocals at the same time. These two guys inspired my drum grooves and sound (such as it is) just thot id share that :). But....and this is the point of my post.... a good 12 years prior to this live album phenom was The Beatles - oh yes, another first. The first live album I ever heard, a album that knocked me flat on my bass drum - The Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl, August 1964. And here is a clip if you care ;) youtube/watch?v=wtOX4HSO2Dc
