David Jones at The Curling Academy has asked us to draw this event to attention of any curling music lovers amongst us. All for a good cause. There is a music charity night arranged via The Curling Academy at Dundee Ice Arena on 17th October from 7pm to raise funds for grass roots curling development at Dundee. A donation will be made directly to both the Dundee Junior Curling Club and the Dundee Virtual Clubs. The tickets are only £8 and suitable for all ages. We have a full licence so come along and enjoy a night of live music and have a drink around curling friends. We have three music bands playing as below…. Yikkitty - were formed in 1985 play in the electronic genre and influences are bands like Japan, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and Ultravox . The new album Abuse was just released on the 1st September around the world on iTunes. John Duff is one of the band members and he plays curling in the Dundee and Angus area and was a member of the Dundee Juniors at the old Dundee Ice Rink a long time ago!! Lewis Davie - will be playing with his full band and will do a 45 minute set of original and cover music to complement Altered Sky. Lewis has just left as a pupil at the High School of Dundee and was a member of the Dundee Junior Curling Club for 4 years. Lewis has just achieved fame as he appears in the new Billy Connolly/David Tenant film called What we did on our holiday’. Lewis has just released his first EP ‘Limerence’ in Dundee this month. Altered Sky - are our headline act for the night and will be travelling up after playing the night before with rock bank Wheatus in Leeds. Altered Sky are a fantastic rock band from Glasgow with similar sounds to the likes of Paramore and we are very lucky to have such a large band play with us for the night. I am confident that in a few years time you will be able to say do you remember when we saw Altered Sky at Dundee Ice Arena! They release their first full album next year after successful EP releases over the last two years and can be seen on their website. The event is currently ticket only - Payment can be made by cash or cheque so get in touch with david@thecurlingacademy to book tickets.
