David Klaubert and others report in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung about the giant art cache found in Munich. The discovery seems to be but a tip of the iceberg of a huge black art market. There are six images of unknown paintings of Matisse, Chagall, Dix, etc. on the FAZ site. The tragic and complex personal history is that of an art expert of Jewish heritage whom Goebbels, however, employed as a salesman of degraded art. Kai Ekholm, the director of the National Library of Finland, has just published a detective novel called Näiden kirjojen mukaan teidät on tuomittava [By These Books You Will Be Judged], inspired by the Last Judgement altar fresco of the Albi Cathedral, Les morts furent jugés selon ce qu’ils avaient fait, d’après ce qui était écrit dans les livres. The thrilling backstory of that novel is basically identical with the current Munich discovery.
