David Lose was one of the speakers and presenters at last weeks Assembly of the SEPA Synod which Rachel Scheible, Everett Wick and I attended. He is the newly-elected president of the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. In this article - granted, intended initially for preachers, but very accessible for any reader with interest - he asks the question whether those who come through the doors of the church do so with the expectation of being CHANGED or TRANSFORMED by the worship, fellowship and preaching. As a practitioner of the craft in the pulpit, Im curious, too. If you come with the hope of being made new in some fashion by Word and Sacrament, please like this post; if you come more with the expectation of getting away from change, unlike it.
