David Pruette is among those reviewing 4:09:43 for Amazon. Pruette writes: “Hal Higdon is a contributing editor at Runner’s World, so he has considerable expertise in running, marathons, and the Boston Marathon. His book 4:09:43 is probably the first book to cover the bombings at last year’s race, and he does an excellent job with it. He has elected to approach the subject matter through the eyes of the runners so we get a lot of firsthand information. “The participants come from all over the world, vary widely in age and ability, and have many different reasons for running a marathon. Mr. Higdon manages to tie the stories into a narrative that flows very well. You will certainly learn about the race and the terrorist attack, but, more interestingly, you will also get to know some of the runners. Your emotions will be affected as you read through the stories. 4:09:03 is well written and presents a very interesting picture of the 2013 Boston Marathon.”
