David Saunders has given me the ages 27 and 45! Age 27, 1976. I was teaching CDT in Wembley. When my students were doing their GCEs it was 95°F in my workshop. I converted a Ford Transit into a camper van and drove to Turkey in that long hot summer. We went via the Romantic Road in Germany and down to Salzburg for some beer. From there we went to Hungary via Vienna and watched the 76 Olympics at a campsite in Budapest. From there it was Sophia, Istanbul and Ephesus. When we got back to the UK we discovered we could have got just as tanned if we had stayed at home! At age 45, 1994, I was teaching in the Peoples Republic of Brent, in Neasden. John Kelly Boys School. It had two famous old boys, Mike Gatting and The St Albans Poisoner, Graham Young. At this time I have been with Gwyneth for five years and loving life, I discovered happy, I had been unhappy for years previous to meeting Gwyneth. I had admired Gwyneth from afar for a couple of years before the choir went on tour to Denmark. That choir tour changed my life!
