David Suzuki, grandfather of Tamo Campos, the environmental activist who was arrested last Thursday, made an emotional speech to RCMP on Burnaby Mountain. Suzuki also said, [The Kinder Morgan project] is just apart of the bigger picture, which is our continued commitment to both the moving of fossil fuels and the burning of it. We have to leave 80% of it in the ground, if the commitment Canada has made—if we mean that commitment—which is to keep temperature rising above 2°C this century, which I think is too much—80% of the known deposits of oil and coal have to be left in the ground. If thats the case, why are we going to spend billions trying to export what we ultimately have to stop using. It doesnt make any sense to me. Before his speech, Suzukis daughter and grandaughter, Tamiko and Madori Campos, respectively, were arrested among women of the Klabona Keepers and Beyond Boardings Desirée Wallace. Afterwards, Tamo said to the people around him, Well, it seems my whole family has been arrested today.
