Davyd and I spent three Christmases in Paris. Each trip was a highlight of our time together. These are from our first trip in 2006. I have these two pictures framed together and I carried them with me on this current trip. I was looking at them this morning and realized that I love these two pictures because they capture two sides of Davyd: the intensely private, introspective side of him, and the goofball, extroverted, entertaining side of him, always willing to perform for me, to make me laugh. Immediately after his death I thought I would never be able to go back to Paris, because it would be too hard, because every part of the city would painfully remind me of him. But Ive sensed changed my mind, that I MUST go back to Paris, for exactly the same reason, to revisit these places, to continue to experience him there in a new way.
