Dawn took me outside today. A little fresh air and lunch at The Wall Street Deli in the outpatient center. You know weve said this is our date place. Here are our days in the hospital you have carried us since November 14th... 29 days at UL (including Thanksgiving) 21 days at Frazier (including 2 b-days, Christmas & home on New Years) 28 days of outpatient at Frazier Dawn Sparks spent 12 days with her surgery and stay 5 days at UL for intensive care chemo Another 2 days for intensive care chemo 2 different outpatient surgery days 10 days at UL 10 days at Frazier 10 days at UL 26 days at Frazier if we get home as planned October 7. Included of course were 3 radiation days, one and often two days a week Doctor visits, and a visit day to Vandy. Dawn of course has bore the brunt of much care and travel, and Mosaic UMC and Eliseo Mejia has been more than gracious of lost work hours. Especially that Dawn was off for 3 weeks of convalescing and not driving. Luke Sparks spent three weeks driving and hanging for three hours a day downtown in January. And then when he went back to school Tom Grace gave a week from work to do the chauffeur work, while Debbie Satterlee Grace cooked and cared for two invalids. Additionally Megan Sparks Bracken and Mel Wilhelm have driven me to several Dr appointments. Many others have been here and given so much. We are planning on Carol Sparks to live with us for several weeks as I go to this next round of outpatient. We are anticipating with radiation, therapy and travel, we could be up to 5 hours a day for up to four weeks downtown. Becki Curry, Kevin Burney, Bishop & Jennifer Mink Davis, Julie Hager Love, Gail Isaac and many others have sat many hours with us in surgery waiting. Rev Lisa Schmitt has been a godsend in getting the help and assistance to make us more comfortable. Two of our nights in the hospital were over night in ER. One entrance was 27 hours from registration to room. We have been told a wheelchair could be a permanent part of my future, but there is still some hope of golf as well. But we face this future grateful of your love - your extravagant generosity of resources - of allowing you to be used by God through through prayers and letting us cry on your shoulder. And I am so blessed to have each of you in my life.
