Day 1 of a very interesting series of talks given at the Garrison Library today. Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Joseph Garcia opened the event, followed by a talk on self-determination by Sir Graham Watson MP. Speakers included - - Robert Woodthorpe Browne MBE (Council of the Royal Institute for Foreign Affairs Chatham House, Chairman of the IR Committee of the Liberal Democrats). - Dr. Tom Grant (University of Cambridge, Lauterpacht Centre for International Law). - Joaquim Torra (Director of the Born Cultural Centre) speaking about Catalonias road to independence. - Jon Inarritu Garcia (Diputado por Bizkaia) speaking about the Basque Country. - Professor Jesus Verdu Baeza (Director, Faculty of Law, Universidad de Cadiz, Algeciras Campus) talking about territorial integrity in the light of Gibraltars case for self-determination, a Spanish perspective.
