Day 1 of the Artist Challenge: I was nominated to post 3 pieces of my art for the next 5 days by my longtime friend and fellow artist Eric Scott, and to, in turn nominate another artist to do the same. So, I thought it would be appropriate to kick it off with some of my childhood drawings. When my parents took my brother and I to visit our grandmother (who we all knew as simply Baba) in Johnstown, PA, wed spend the good majority of our stay sitting at her kitchen table, drawing our little hearts out with pencils and yellow paper, while drinking Tab cola and eating stale Windmill cookies. It was how my brother and I passed the time, and we wouldnt have wanted it any other way. Baba kept practically every single drawing we made, some of which are about thirty-five years old and in near-perfect condition. One of the drawings in this post was actually featured in a documentary about Star Wars, called The People vs. George Lucas, after the films producer found it posted in my Flickr stream and kindly asked if he could use it (and quite a few more) in a short segment about three minutes into the start of the film. In the meantime, Im going to nominate my wife and fellow artist Kris to give the challenge a shot.
