Day 1 of the Facebook challenge. I wanted to put these up anyway. These are part of a new theme that started after a lengthy stay in Rome in the summer of 2013. The baroque ceilings of Sant Ignazio di Loyola and Il Gesu reminded me of looking at the sky through a dense forest; an archetypal experience of seeing light through the place of darkness. I took it as a metaphor for hope in general. (No religion necessary; the experience being older than religion!) Just replace the light of heaven with everyday sky, and replace angels, saints and the damned with trees, and Bobs Your Uncle! Weve been drawn to this light since we crawled up from the primordial slime. Maybe this is why we are not still some kind of fish.
