Day 1 with the new medication has revealed that it will take 2 or 3 days to take effect. Lynne Murphy had her first dose about 8 AM & was in pain at 10 AM receiving her other type of pain medication at that time. The new medication is given twice a day, every 12 hours. She was in pain again at 2 PM & cried quite a bit this afternoon according to her caregiver, Cathy. When I arrive about 5:35 she was OK & resting. She had her shower today & Cathy said that she will be out for the count soon. Sure enough this was the case around 6:15 PM. She enjoyed me talking to her & we shared some warm smiles together. I could tell she was battling to stay awake & I encouraged her to go to sleep. As I watched her sleep I prayed for her & thanked God for giving Lynne to me. I am grateful. Maybe tomorrow we will have a better idea if this new dosage is more effective and how she will react to the stronger medicine.
