Day #10 --Do-1-Nice-Thing...If youre on social media (facebook, twitter, etc) spread the niceness..pliment some of your friends. Read Micah 6:6-8 Lord, what should I do? Please, give me a sign! Have you ever found yourself asking that question? Micah tells us plainly what God wants us to do. 3 things that characterize our lives as Christians: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. Act justly -- be fair, honest, and have integrity. God charges us to do what is right and fair in our relationships with other people, whether its our spouse, our family, our friends, or the people we see daily. Love mercy -- not have mercy, LOVE mercy. If we can fill our hearts with compassion and kindness toward one another, then we can love mercy. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, it was the one who was thought to be the least likely to help, who did not hesitate. The parable of the prodigal son reveals to us the heart of the father who accepted his son against the expectation of almost everyone. Showing people mercy is the only response that makes any sense in light of the mercy that God has shown us in Jesus Christ. Walk humbly with God -- God wants a relationship with us. That relationship should begin with humility, not arrogance, or pride. We should bend our knees and humbly serve and glorify God. God, You are good. What you ask, all of us can do in Christ! Following you does not require great wealth, great knowledge or possessions, just a humble heart. Strengthen me and help me walk with You. Amen. (Pam Baker, Centenary UMC)
