Day 10 - The dingoes were howling last night. We headed out - TopicsExpress

Day 10 - The dingoes were howling last night. We headed out exploring around Lorella Springs and first came across one of the howling dingoes from the night before. First headed to the water Slide, a natural formed water slide. I followed the track a bit too far and we started to bottom out on some pretty big rocks in the grass. Was lucky not to do some damage or puncture the fuel tank. Phe... Managed to reverse out using Low Range. We started the treck, following pieces of ribbon tied to trees as a path. Was very rough going & the Girls were doing well until they seen Dad nearly shit himself after a foot long grey snake slipped its way into the rocks from under my feet. We decided to turn back:( Went on to climb up to a cave perched on top of a small mountain. Was very steep but the girls did well, and the view was spectacular around the adjacent ranges and out to the gulf. Emma got to drive for the first time; sitting on Dads knee. She did about 20km, but was some serious 4x4 country involved. Great Job Emma!! Headed around to InkSpot waterhole - Crystal Clear!!, then around to Wildfire Gorge and Emerald Pools. All very nice waterholes. Next was Saltwater Crocodile Bilabong; aptly named we are told. There was a 10 punt you could paddle around in, but we decided against it. The water crossing was fun, with a very steep exit. Great day of exploring, followed by ending off with a swim in the springs.
