Day 10 (Genesis Ch 29-30): I have always been fascinated by the flight path of boomerangs. I dont understand how they work but I know that they do. It intrigues me to be able to throw an object into the air and have it circle right back around to me. However, our actions typically have the same type of boomerang effect. The way we treat others always seems to come back to us--both good and bad. Jacob, who has used deceitfulness to steal both his brothers birthright and blessing, is deceived by his father-in-law, Laban. Laban was not forthright with Jacob in telling him about the custom of the land for the oldest daughter to be married before the younger. So Laban tricks Jacob into promising another 7 years of hard labor. We often become upset when injustice is done to us but we tend to justify, excuse, or even ignore the injustices we do to others. Lesson learned--be careful how you treat others because our poor choices, just like boomerangs, have a way of coming back to haunt you. Lord, show me the way to treat others justly--not so that I can avoid wrongdoing but so that I can be an excellent representation of You, Lord. Lord, help me to always treat others as Your creation. Lord, show me when I am not acting like Your child and help me to correct those behaviors so that I can become more like you.
