Day 10 of Christmas Music posting. While it is important to celebrate the wish for hope and peace that Christmas is and was, we must also recognize that times were hard oh so long ago, just as they can be now. Mary and Joseph faced humiliation and public ridicule for her pregnancy, a king was plotting to kill their child, people were wrapped up in their own busy lives. Things havent changed that much in over 2000 years. We still have poverty, ridicule, loss. We are still wrapped up in our own busy lives. And while it isnt the usual message of Christmas, it is important to acknowledge these difficulties and losses in order to move past them. I learned early this morning of the passing of a good man. One of my neighbours from St. Anthony. He has always had health issues, but his passing was still very sudden and he will be missed. He loved animals and going out with friends. He was so very social and loved his family. His brothers family lived directly beside him and he was so much a part of their lives. I simply can not imagine the depth of their loss. Loss is always difficult, but seems ever more so as we approach Christmas, when we celebrate a birth. So todays post is dedicated to Kevin and his family.
