Day 100 - Joshie has reached his first milestone since transplant - TopicsExpress

Day 100 - Joshie has reached his first milestone since transplant and hes made it to 100 days! It means that hes able to stop some medication and can start to introduce some food back into his diet. He was a happy boy being able to have strawberries again! Yesterdays appt at PMH meant big blood tests and a thorough review by the consultant. Everything is looking good, but they are a little concerned that he has graft vs host disease in his tummy. It means that his new cells are fighting the old ones and any leukaemia cells heaven forbid are still there. Hes eating like a sparrow and has lost a bit more weight. Next appt in a fortnight the drs will decide if he needs and endoscopy and biopsy. In 3 months he will start all of his childhood immunisations again. Not looking forward to that but looking forward to some/any kind of immunity back in his body. We will continue weekly and fortnightly appts for a while and then they will stretch out to monthly. There is still a long way to go with his fatigue, mental and emotional care, eating and weight, but day by day well get there. His body just needs to keep fighting off those cancer cells!!! Thankyou all for helping get us to 100 days xx
