Day 11 - November 16, 2014 Answered Prayer - 1) This morning - TopicsExpress

Day 11 - November 16, 2014 Answered Prayer - 1) This morning David woke up enough to follow two simple verbal commands by the dr. - can you move your thumb and can you wiggle your toes; 2) tomorrow they are going to take out the vent tube and do a tracheostomy and put in a feeding tube; 3) his right lung looks much better on the x-ray. I started to sleep in a little later this morning and then I realized that I might miss the dr. so I got up at 5:30 and was there when he responded. That gives us assurance that there has been no neurological event while he has been sedated so Thank you, God for protecting him. The tracheostomy will be more comfortable as they will remove the garden hose from his throat, he will be able to communicate and they will be able to wean him off the ventilator easier. Specific Prayer Needs - 1) please pray for the surgery to go well and there will be no complications as they put in the tracheostomy and feeding tube. They dont have a time scheduled, just sometime tomorrow but I will post when they take him; 2) pray for the left lung to clear and heal (this is the lung that was collapsed from the broken ribs and had the chest tube); 3) pray for pain management as they take him off sedation and just give him pain meds. As he was more awake today and they were doing things to him, I could see in his eyes that he was in pain. His face would turn red and his eyes would water. I cannot even imagine being in that condition, completely helpless and unable to say or do anything. I am hopeful and praying that tomorrow will be a big turning point. It will be the 11th day since they intubated him. I dont know if he will remember any or part of these 11 days but I know how God has been holding me up and strengthening me so I have to believe that He has been at work, quietly on the inside, working His peace in David and assuring him of His constant and abiding presence while giving him rest. Come unto Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your soul. For My yoke is easy and My load is light. Matthew 11:28-30 Please also pray for the young man that I mentioned earlier last week. He also will be having surgery tomorrow at 10 AM to put a plate in his jaw and to reconstruct his face. His young wife has hardly left the hospital except to take breast milk to her infant newborn in the NICU at Tx. Childrens.
