Day 11 of the #beastmodebeautifuls #movemovember challenge from @kparker718 . We often neglect stretching parts of our body that hold tension. Sometimes, we dont even know were sore or tense until the theres the absence of the feeling. In my recent work with my trainer, Ive been spending some time on my shoulders and lats, and Im amazed at how much better I feel all the time now. I invite you to try all or any of these 3 things today. 1) Bar Hang with Thoracic Rotation (left): This one is amazing for the lats. Hang from something with hands a little wider than shoulder width apart. Your feet need to be touching the ground, and its fine if your knees bend. Tuck your pelvis to take the curve out of your back. Now slowly walk your feet over to the left for a nice spinal twist and feel the stretch down your right lat. Hold for a bit, and then switch directions and walk your feet over to the right. 5x each side. 2) Shoulder Stretch (top right): Kneel down feet together, feet flexed, and knees slightly apart. Think childs pose. Place your left arm with elbow bent 90 degrees, directly in front of your body so the crook of the elbow is about in line with your chin. As you lean forward to rest your forehead on your opposite hand in front of you, think of leaning your body so your weight is resting more on the left leg than the right. If you do this right, you should feel a nice stretch down the outside of your left shoulder and down the left lat a bit. If youre not feeling a stretch, try reaching the left hand to the right a bit more, and/or moving the left arm forward. In this position, take 5 deep diaphramatic breaths. Switch sides and repeat. 3) Foam Roll Lats (bottom right): Its pretty self-explanatory and it hurts like hell if youre tight there. If you do these stretches enough, youll work out all the kinks and the rolling wont hurt anymore.
