Day 12: I am thankful for the Oncologists/Radiologists/Researchers who dedicate their life to treating and finding cures for children with cancer. For the ones who love our kids to the fullest and who fight through the pain of losing a patient whom theyve grown close to so that they can keep up the fight for the ones still fighting. For the nurses who are so incredibly patient with the children like Alex who when he was little especially needed to take a long time during any procedure big or small in order to do all of the things in their routine that makes them most comfortable (ie. asking questions, counting to 3, saying wait, wait, wait one more time). I am thankful for the child life specialists who run around the hospitals all day long in search of that perfect toy, book, or game that will comfort a patient for a little while. Who come to the rooms with big smiles and incredibly caring hearts. For all of the staff combined who have become like a second family to us. I dont know how you all do what you do, but I am so thankful that you do! I am thankful also for all of the families also in this fight whom I have leaned on, gotten virtual hugs from, gotten real hugs from, tried to lift up, and prayed with everyday; I wish we never had to be in this battle but I am SO thankful that since we are, that we have each other to lean on!!!
