Day 12 of the 14 Lenten Devotional: Rev Dr Byron E Williams Sr provides instructions from the passage Matthew 3:13-16. Our Christ has come to this planet bearing such a powerful and unique love that He dares defy secularism and identify with us as one of us. While humility of this identification is clearly seen in His Incarnation, the self-identifying greatness of it is seen in His baptism. ...He identifies with us by going through the ritual of baptism by John, which was required for repentance--a grace that our Savior did not require. Yet, He says Suffer it to be so now. My actions are a part of a divine scheme of things which you are not able to comprehend. The Father has ordered this baptism. Because it is on His divine agenda, you and I both must cooperate with Gods righteousness. ...He became like us so that we might become like Him. Prayer: Father we thank you for the identifying love you have shown us in Jesus Christ. May your willingness to become what we are enhance our willingness to ever be sons and daughters of righteousness. Amen.
