Day 131: What an amazing praise we have! 😄Today Montana went back to surgery early this morning to take a look at his foot and decide how successful the I&D was and possibly close up the foot. Dr. Guinn reported after surgery that the foot/ankle looked good, he cleaned the infection out again and was able to close up the ankle on both sides without a wound vac! The infection control doc reported that the culture grew staph. 💉Montana had a PICC line put in that we will use to administer IV antibiotics from home twice a day for the next few weeks, Vancomycin for maybe 4 to 6 weeks. There were two cultures taken during the initial surgery. One of them grew...NOTHING🙏 Praise God! The other grew a common strain of Staph Epi. So the antibiotics are a precaution to ensure all infection is gone! Since the hardware was removed and the wound/leg is closed he should heal quickly. We will stay in the hospital tonight and possibly Sat night to continue with antibiotics and pain meds from the surgery. We will be looking for a consult with Orthopaedic in the morning to give us an idea exactly when we will go home. The results of the culture are a result of the power of prayer! For sure...
