Day 141- today Mattie looks about the same- soundly asleep breathing on the vent. Discussion with the nurse is the chest x-ray shows a little improvement but in the large scheme of things it is like chipping away at a mountain. In the next few days they will slowly begin to ween her off the vent, but as Dr Miller stated it could be up to two more weeks on the vent. The team of docs still dont know the culprit of her respiratory failure- probably bacteria. A lung biopsy could give a definitive answer but the risk are too great to do the procedure. Matties blood pressure has been erratic- high to low measures. Repositioning her seems to effect the fluctuations and the nurse has to adjust the medication. Good news is God has provided a way for Daddy to take a family medical leave from work to be with mom and Mattie in Minnesota.
