Day 15 - November 20, 2014 Stayed later at hospital tonight so late dinner and Im pretty tired so Ill try to give Readers Digest version of todays update: David ran fever all last night and throughout today and dr. said todays chest x-ray was about the same as yesterday which was worse than before - so, stable, no better, no worse than yesterday. The right lung is actually worse than the lung that was collapsed. He is awake more, eyes open, but doesnt seem to be really conscious. He doesnt respond in any way. Dr. says he is still sedated - it takes a long time for body to metabolize all of the sedation that has build up in his system. He did look and seem to be resting comfortably all day until about 5PM when the bed rotated to shift his weight and it moved the trach/vent tube so that the alarm went off and he was not getting good air flow. Respiratory therapist came in and figured out the problem. Took about an hour to get him settled back down so that HR and BP were back in their normal range. They wont move him to the other facility as long as he has a fever. Please specifically pray: 1) for the source of the fever to be identified and treated with the right antibiotic; 2) for the sedation to wear off enough for him to come back to us; 3) for his comfort and pain management while dealing with the vent and trach secretions & suctioning.
