Day 16: First let me say this, for my new Facebook friends I also did my thanks in 2013...I have had private messages I should be thankful for the grumpy ole dairy farmer, my children, etc... I did those last year so if you would like to read those they are in my first published book... On sale today for $9.99, if you order today you get a second one free...JK... So for my oldest daughter here is my thankful post of the game of football... I know some people will be judgmental and say that is pretty lame but let me tell you why before making that judgement... Monday night football is one of my fondest memories of time spent with my Daddy... We would bet a nickle on the game...I would ask questions, he would tell me all about the game of football... Not so sure I really cared about the game, but I had my Daddys undivided attention...those 3 hours he was mine!!! And yes he made me pay my debts, the reason I do not gamble today...Good life lesson huh?? I had a call Friday night before the Thomson game, talking about an old coach after 47 years being back on those sidelines... You see if I didnt have an interest in Football I would have never received that call and had some good laughs with some ole friends...Football is a game of tenacity, dedication, hard work, talent, love for the game...Few ever experience the adrenaline rush those kids get from winning a state championship...Some children use their God given talent to get them out of a life of not so pleasant living conditions... Some children see their opportunity to escape that life with a career ending injury... Football has bonded family members for life...always a good conversation to be had, all because a bunch of children are playing a game!!! The best scene to see: 2 friends high-fiving over a touchdown...the game gives us an escape from the day to day heartaches...the game gives us hope for something exciting to look forward to on Friday nights/Saturdays/ Sunday afternoons...the game brings out the competitive spirit that we all have inside of us!!! The loses are heart breaking...but there is always next year, as if that helps...I cannot go without saying the Coaches are the real heroes for sacrificing so much of their time for others children while they could be spending time with their own children... No I do not profess to know the game of football but I do know football is about bringing people together on an even playing field and enjoying the best or could be worst camaraderie... Its all how you put your perspective on it!!! That is mine!!! Go Irwin Cty Indians..Dome bound to play the Jenkins Cty Eagles!!!
