Day 16 of 30 days of gratitude. It is Sunday again, an opportunity - TopicsExpress

Day 16 of 30 days of gratitude. It is Sunday again, an opportunity to renew sacred covenants, reflect on the blessings of the week, and to learn from His spirit as we approach Father continually in prayer. As I awoke this morning, I was thinking about how thankful I am for the foundational truths of the gospel. Sometimes we get so caught up in the doing, the activity, the idea of all that is before us in life and in our church service, that we forget the purpose for which we are here, our roles, and the foundational purpose of His kingdom (which is not of this earth, but we as members of the body of Christ can live in while on this earth, if we choose to always remember and act in harmony with truth as given to us through His Spirit, and as written by His prophets. The most basic truth, necessary to our existence in Fathers Kingdom is to remember His Work, and Glory which is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of man, us, His children (Moses 1:33, 38–39.). Knowing this, it follows that the foundational truth of His kingdom is as stated in The church handbook, section 1.1.5 : The Church provides the organization and means for teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of God’s children. It provides the priesthood authority to administer the ordinances of salvation and exaltation to all who are worthy and willing to accept them. In short, as stated in the Basic Unit Guide Book (p. 7.3) our focus should be to: Help members (1) understand and receive essential priesthood ordinances and (2) make and keep the associated covenants. All that we do in the church should be rooted in this purpose. In handbook 2 it says our roll in our callings is to (section 1.2.2): strive to help others become true followers of Jesus Christ (see Mosiah 18:18–30). To assist individuals and families in this effort, they: 1. Teach and testify of the pure doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ. 2. Strengthen individuals and families in their efforts to keep their sacred covenants. 3. Provide counsel, support, and opportunities for service. In addition, certain priesthood leaders have the authority to oversee the performance of the saving priesthood ordinances. The churchs (the earthly organization endowed with His power to assist His children to come unto and become like Him) role is to assist the individual and family. Our role as individuals, fathers, mothers, families, is to seek to become like our exemplar, our brother and savior Jesus Christ, which in turn, allows us through the benefit of his atonement, to become as he, one in purpose with Father. Father has in his wisdom, since the foundation of man upon this earth, instituted the organization of the family, Man and Woman bonded and bound in the sacred responsibility of procreation as the most basic organization for the growth, development and perfection of His children. (see Handbook 2 Section 1 & accompanying scriptures). Yes, as conveyed by John (see John 1:10) we, like the savior must live in this world, but like him, we are not, nor should be become of this world. We have a purpose, a calling, a destiny, and as we remember, seek, and act, as he, we can live in his kingdom, yet while still on this earth. Today I am thankful for these basic truths, and for the desire to become as Father would have me. Let us always remember the purpose for which we do things, it is for the Glory of Father, to bring ourselves and those whom He, and we love (all of his children), to Him. Not for any less significant, or more temporal pleasure or purpose, but to return to and become like Father. https://lds.org/general-co…/…/this-is-my-work-and-glory… What are you thankful for today?
