Day 17....Today I am thankful for my experiences with Big Brothers Big Sisters. I will be the first to admit I have lived a fairly sheltered life. I started with the program because I was riding my kids about giving back and community service and realized, how can I tell them to do that if Im not. So I picked this program because I love kids and picked a little girl because I lived in a house of testosterone....lol. When I got started in the program....wow....I realized how sheltered my life had been. I am born and raised in St. Louis and had no idea some of the other worlds out there. I try to see the city but had no idea so of the other sides of it. I am grateful to have had my eyes opened. I have lived a very nice life, I work very hard but there are a lot of other people out there much less fortunate than I am. I am lucky and I feel fortunate to be able to a little girl some of the sites of the city, some of the culture and a little fun that she might not otherwise get to do. I enjoy doing it and it reminds me often how lucky I am. I am thankful for the experience.
