Day 19 Well, Tom didnt get to go home on Monday. Toms doctors thought it would be better for him to stay here at the hospital to monitor his GVHD since he wasnt feeling very well on Saturday and Sunday. Everything turned out just fine after he was put on some steroids. We get to go home tomorrow!! He is so excited that he already has his bags packed and next to the door. Right now Tom feels great. His nauseousness is gone, his appetite is coming back, and he hasnt gotten sick in a couple of days. Things are back on track :) Now we will start our next phase of recovery at home. He will be home bound until at least his 100th day, and until all of his numbers are at consistent, normal levels. We will go to the cancer clinic a few times a week to get blood work and transfusions when needed. His magnesium levels have been low so he has been getting that every few days. It is possible that he will need blood, platelets, potassium, or any other number of transfusions over the next couple of months. Some days he will spend 15 minutes at the clinic while other days he can be there up to 6 hours. We already have our menu planned for the next few days. He cant eat at restaurants at all or get take out, but he is excited for home cooked meals...anything but hospital food. Today he took his time creating a mighty grocery list for me tomorrow. Our first meal will be steaks on the grill... I am excited for that as well :) I will try to keep everyone posted at least once a week from here on out, but let me tell you, no posts equals good news. -Megan
