Day 2 22/9/14 Up early to tackle the Bloomfield. The trick is to get the tide otherwise u can be caught for up to 6 hrs or risk getting washed off the causeway. Beautiful morning driving into the Rain forest Canopy. The sign appears 4 WD only past this point and if the pool is big enough to house a croc. It probably does, Some trepidation gradients up to 40% and river crossings.Yahoo we are off. Fab drive with the nose of the car pointed skywards and steep descents with no room to pass.Came to our first crossing and nearly pulled my pants down,In u go not knowing whats underfoot.!st one was just under the bonnet but really rough. Shit nice to get stuck here. we had a couple of crossings. We around the corner in the middle of nowhere theres a mobile traffic light theres a bridge under construct but we get to do it the old fashion way.Racing down the track at about 40 Ks to beat the tide.Really hot and i see a nice clear pool . A swim would be good. Pull the car over check the pond for any unwanted life. Not sure about a spot so i hurl a rock at it and nothing happens, So gear of and I dive in. Very slippery but water cool. Come on Princess. Gets her gear of by the side of the pond and theres an almighty scream shes trodden on a large piece of glass some fool has thrown in the pool. Big gash near the heel and Elmar Fud everywhere. Excursion looking like its over before it starts. Out Comes Dr Killdares medical kit for all occasions. And an emergency op goes into place.Back in the car.Mood and prognosis very poor. Race of to beat the tide at the Bloomfield Crossing.Around a tight corner and there it is with a brand new Bridge taking out the Crossing.Very disappointed Iv been waiting about 8 years to do that crossing and they have tamed it with a new bridge opened about 3 mths ago. We cant climb up to the falls as Jules cant walk .I bought a post card of the falls .Till next time. The Bloomfield is closed during the wet From Dec to April. 4 hrs into a very long day with Julie-Ann Glur
