Day 2 Breakfast at Sandy Island was awesome. We dropped the dogs just before the sun was coming up and we caught the sunrise. It was a beautiful morning and I hope the photo does justice. The students were up and getting packed. This was awesome to see how people pitched in and Laz was really starting to bring the two groups together. There was a school group from Southend and then there was a student from Saskatoon, SK as well as a student from OCN, MB. I want to write a little about the efficiency of a moving camp dealing with breakfast. There was a huge pot and sausages and eggs were dumped in together to boil. It was simple and it was good. Hard-boiled eggs with sausages give a lot of energy and keep the internal fires going in lower temperatures. We also had bacon and slices of garlic along with toasted bannock. Tea is an essential mixture of all the meals. Cowboy coffee was made but I would probably think its either Trappers Coffee or Fishermans Coffee up here. Nonetheless, this is the boiling water and you simply dump a nice scoop of coffee grounds.
