Day 2: I left Manila for Naga today. As our flight was delayed one - TopicsExpress

Day 2: I left Manila for Naga today. As our flight was delayed one hour due to the Christmas rush. We were anxious to meet up with the group, as Budwe and I caught a later flight without the others. Driving to Naga we saw Gods beauty in his creation from the mountain tops, fresh air and green grass. I truly felt at peace for a little. Until we got to the villages, where we saw Gods beauty turn into human neglect. Where houses if you could call them that. Were made with very poor structures, and if you had money you had a tin roof. But the rest have cardboard boxes for shelter and slept on mud. Yet it made me reflect how we have the luxury of choosing between king, queen or double. Suddenly what I saw online because real, so real, that it seemed surreal to be seeing it right in front of me. And it broke my heart. At night it started raining heavily.. It was pouring. All I could think about was those poor villages and the conditions they were living in. The rain was so loud that I could picture the weight of the rain collapse and ruin their homes. And then I could remember when I was younger, my parents telling me, thank God you have a roof over your head.. And now, I can truly understand how much it means to me to have shelter, and how grateful I am to God.
